Oxford MEStar announce the launch of measure bowel health test

measure Bowel Health is an affordable DIY Bowel Health Test that combines ease of use with cutting edge digital technology. measure is fast, hygienic and discreet and it works by detecting low-level bleeding invisible to the human eye that may be an early sign of gastrointestinal disease, including bowel cancer and stomach ulcers. Test results are available within a minute of testing and displayed digitally on the reader screen.

Prof. Zhanfeng Cui, Founder and Chairman of Oxford MEStar said:

“We are delighted to launch our first consumer product in the UK. In vitro diagnostics is an exciting field for Oxford MEStar and the UK is the perfect first market to get our product into the hands of the consumer”.

measure Bowel Health originates from research by Prof. Jon Cooper FREng carried out over 10 years. The product is the first in a series of digital handheld bowel diagnostic tests the company is working on. Prof. Cooper added:

“This product highlights an exciting approach to in vitro diagnostics with the translation of cutting edge research and technology into a commercial product. Oxford MEStar and their partners have created an easy to use digital sensor, which has been designed to actively encourage testing and enable the user to make more informed decisions based upon outcomes”

Bowel cancer is the third most common form of cancer in the UK and it has the second highest mortality rate. This is mainly because symptoms do not usually appear until the cancer is advanced, when treatments have less successful outcomes. Early detection allows for highly effective medical interventions that can achieved survival rates of up to 90%.

Oxford MEStar will be donating a proportion of the sale of each testing kit to Bowel & Cancer Research, a charity and leading research authority in bowel disease, funding projects from bowel cancer to IBS across the UK.

Deborah Gilbert, CEO of Bowel & Cancer Research commented:

“Bowel Cancer is one of the easiest cancers when caught early – screening is vital in this respect”.

The product is available immediately from the measure Bowel Health website – (www.measurebowelhealth.com).
